See the latest lighting technologies at electronica 2014
A study by the German Energy Agency has revealed that LEDs are replacing the traditional light bulbs, ensuring optimum efficiency for challenging tasks in the automobile industry, smartphones and highly complex robots. Exhibitors will be demonstrating the latest LED lighting technologies at electronica next month, while the automotive conference and accompanying forums will also explore this topic.
electronica to host PCI Express BERT extension demo
A new option for Bit Error Rate Test (BERT) of PCI Express compatible high-speed bus systems was launched at the International Test Conference in Seattle by Goepel Electronic. The option will also be demonstrated at the upcoming electronica exhibition which takes place in Munich (Nov 11-14).
Can a single platform bring together Smart Home systems?
The commercial potential of Smart Home systems is leading to fragmentation; the enemy of innovation. Can a cross-vendor platform bring it all together? By Holger Knöpke, Head of Connected Home, Deutsche Telekom.
POL power modules offer a 25% reduction in board space
The UDXS0606 (digital) and UVXS0606 (analogue) non-isolated POL power modules have been released by GE’s Critical Power business, expanding it’s DualDLynx product family. According to the company, the modules offer up to 25% reduction in board space usage, compared to competing solutions.
D-Sub connectors feature special mounting bracket
Provertha’s new D-Sub connectors are ideally suited for applications demanding small mounting heights on the PCB. The D-Sub Eurostyle connectors are available in male and female versions with 9 to 37 pins and a mounting height of only 3.6 mm. Due to the low mounting height of only 3.6 mm compared to the standard version with 7.3 mm, a typical 19-inch rack can accommodate more plug-in slots at a given front panel width for example.
Fairchild to exhibit solutions for a smarter, cleaner world
Fairchild’s theme at this year’s electronica is ‘Move It. Sense It. Drive It.’. The company will be in A4.506 at the trade show, which takes place from 11th to 14th November 2014 in Munich. At the stand, Fairchild will provide attendees with information about it’s motor control, motion sensor and automotive solutions for a cleaner, smarter world.
DDR4 SODIMMs provide higher performance & consume less power
At electronica 2014, from 11th to 14th November, Swissbit will be presenting it’s first DDR4 ECC SODIMM. Using the 4th gen DDR,the device canachieve higher data rates than when used with the DDR3, while consuming the same amount of power consumption. Featuring optimised data bus termination, dynamic bus inversion and CRC protection of the command/address bus, the 8GB SODIMM is designed fornext-genembedded boards.
Source measure unit extends applications reach
Keithley Instruments has added to its benchtop SMU instrumentation range with a capacitive touchscreen graphical user interface (GUI). It has launched the Model 2460 SourceMeter which offers users higher power sourcing (up to 105V, 7A DC/7A pulse, 100W max.) with 0.012% basic measurement accuracy and 6½-digit resolution, making it ideal for high power, high precision I-V characterisation of modern materials and high power devices.
HMI kit accelerates prototyping process
Based on the RX63N and RX631 groups of MCUs, the ‘Display it! – RX HMI Solution Kit' has been released by Renesas Electronics Europe. Accelerating the prototyping and decision-making process, the 32-bit MCU RX based solution kit enables engineers to quickly evaluate and demonstrate HMI tools.
USB-based spectrum analyser comes with free software
Farnell element14 is already selling the newly released Tektronix RSA306 spectrum analyser based on a USB architecture. The new instrument features a broad 9 kHz to 6.2 GHz frequency range, 40 MHz real time bandwidth and weighs 1.2 pounds. When used with Tektronix SignalVu-PC software, the analyser offers advanced analysis capabilities for such applications as budget-conscious research and development, mobile radio network installation, interferen...
