Cambridge Consultants passes proof of concept stage using holographic radar missile scoring for US Defense program
Cambridge Consultants has successfully carried out proof of concept trials of its groundbreaking radar, pinpointing the impact of rapid shell fire for the US Department of Defense (US DoD). During trials the radar was able to measure the trajectory and burst points of shells fired from a naval gun at a rate of one every three seconds - the first time radar has been used this way.
405nm wavelength stabilised laser diodes from Photonic Products
Photonic Products has launched a new range of 405nm wavelength stabilised laser diodes from ONDAX for applications which include Raman spectroscopy, flow cytometry and metrology / interferometry. The ONDAX 405nm blue-violet wavelength stabilised laser is a miniature laser in a standard TO 5.6mm package. The wavelength stabilisation is achieved by optical feedback using the ONDAX Volume Holographic Grating (VHG) PowerLocker which ensures a stable ...
United States Navy signs target scoring deal with Cambridge Consultants for novel deployment of holographic radar technology
Cambridge Consultants announced today the inclusion of its holographic radar technology in a US Department of Defense (DoD) demonstration programme geared at improving the projectile scoring capabilities of the US Navy and Army. This demonstration project, funded by the Department for Operational Test & Evaluation (DOT&E) for both services, will align holographic radar technology and target scoring technology applications for the first time.

Cutting-edge sensor technology to be showcased
Scientists developing cutting-edge sensor technology for the subsea, renewable, marine and fishery industries will showcase their research at an event next month. Academics from the University of Aberdeen and Robert Gordon University working together as part of the Scottish Sensor Systems Centre (S3C)*, will host an Open Laboratory Day for Subsea Sensor Technologies on Tuesday May 22.
638nm Laser Diodes for Pico Projectors
Mitsubishi Electric has developed new high power laser diodes emitting high-intensity red light with a wavelength of 638nm. The new devices dubbed ML5xx71 and ML5xx54 series are perfectly suited for applications like pico projectors. These new laser diodes provide an output power of up to 300mW respectively 110mW in fundamental mode at continuous wave operation.
Torus Spectrometer Delivers High Throughput and Low Stray Light
Ocean Optics has launched a family of aberration-corrected holographic concave diffraction grating spectrometers that delivers low stray light, high throughput and excellent thermal stability for applications ranging from absorbance measurements of optically dense solutions to fluorescence measurements in solutions and powders. Torus is a compact Visible spectrometer (360-825 nm) with greater throughput and less stray light (~0.015% at 400 nm) th...
