Cummins Standardises On Ansys Engineering Simulation Software
Ansys announced today that the world’s largest independent manufacturer of diesel engines and global power leader, Cummins Inc., has signed a new agreement providing it with broad access to the ANSYS portfolio. This enterprise license agreement will enable Cummins to continue to solve some of the industry’s most challenging multiphysics problems – providing its customers with some of the most innovative products on the market.
Buying quantity without compromising on quality
High service distribution is changing. The age of the simple component distributor is dead. Customers and suppliers are demanding a manufacturing partner who can offer both a full design solution and the high level of service they have come to expect. By Phil Gee, Director, Corporate OEM/CEM, Farnell element14.
DTS Miniature Data Recorder Eliminates Need for Slip Rings and Telemetry for Rotating Applications
For anyone challenged with collecting data on rotating components like drive shafts, rotors, reciprocating rods or even track vehicle treads - there is now a solution from California-based DTS that eliminates the need for slip rings and telemetry.
Octopus inspires fast-off-the-line underwater robot
Scientists have developed an octopus-like robot which can launch itself through water, with fast propulsion and acceleration never before seen in man-made underwater vehicles. Most fast aquatic animals are sleek and slender to help them move easily through the water but cephalopods, such as the octopus, are capable of high-speed escapes by filling their bodies with water and then quickly expelling it to dart away.
Surface scanner uses phased laser signals for accurate road modelling
Simulator software specialist rFactor pro (rFpro) has announced the use of a novel surface scanning technology to produce highly accurate digital road models. This capability allows manufacturers to tailor chassis dynamics on ‘global’ vehicles for individual markets, even before prototypes are available, significantly improving development time and costs.
