EuMW 2015: Wideband transistor optimised for DC to 2.7GHz operation
A wideband transistor optimised for DC to 2.7GHz operation and built using proprietary 4th generation GaN on Silicon (GaN on Si) process is sampling today. The device was announced by MACOM at European Microwave Week in Paris. This GaN on Si HEMT D-Mode transistor is ideally suited for defense communications, land mobile radio, avionics, wireless infrastructure, ISM applications and VHF/UHF/L/S-band radar.
EuMW 2015: GaN power amplifier replaces TWTs
A 1kW X-band GaN pulsed power amplifier, the DM-X1K0-01, developed by Diamond Microwave Dvices was introduced at European Microwave Week in Paris. The devices is designed as an alternative to vacuum tube amplifiers. Special emphasis has been given to the size and weight of the amplifier which make it suitable for radar applications including airborne radar where these considerations come into play.
EuMW 2015: Duo collaborate for on-wafer measurement solution
A joint solution for on-wafer measurements on semiconductor components has been developed by MPI and Rohde & Schwarz. The turnkey solution for measurements on semiconductor components in the RF and millimeter wave ranges achieved by a seamless integration of Rohde&Schwarz vector network analysers (VNA) and MPI engineering probe systems was demonstrated at European Microwave Week in Paris.
EuMW 2015: Jitter attenuator targets base stations
A high-performance clock jitter attenuator designed to support the JESD204B serial interface standard for connecting high-speed data converters and field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) operating in base station designs was announced by Analog Devices at European Microwave Week in Paris.
EuMW 2015: GaN RF transistors enable smaller radar units
Three new GaN RF transistors in low-cost plastic packages designed to enable smaller size and greater reliability in civilian marine, airborne and infrastructure radar systems were unveiled by Qorvo at European Microwave Week in Paris. The TGF2977-SM, TGF2978-SM, and TGF2979-SM are unmatched GaN transistors designed to operate in the 8-12GHz frequency band.
