Existing investors include Atlas Venture, Pond Venture Partners, Scottish Equity Partners, Rothschild, Intel and AT&T. The new money will fund future growth.
picoChip's femtocell and 4G capability shown at Mobile World Congress ‘09
picoChip demonstrated its leadership in femtocell and 4G technology at Mobile World Congress ’09 with the announcement of an eight user HSPA femtocell solution, and demonstrations of both FDD and TDD variants of LTE. picoChip also showcased the PC302, a cost-optimized SoC solution for HSPA femtocells, while its technology was used to power products and demonstrations on more than 20 stands at the show.
Roke Launches World’s First Wide Area Coverage Femtocell and Extends Area 40,000 Times
Roke Manor Research has developed the world’s first 3G Wide Area Coverage Femtocell capability. Using picoChip’s technology as the development platform, Roke’s reference design has a 40km range which delivers more than 40,000 times the area covered of most other femtocells. It is also the first to support full mobility at speeds of up to 120 kilometres per hour, allowing mobile users to travel while connected to the 3G base stations.
Picochip extends lead in public access femtocells and announces dual-mode LTE/HSPA+ capabilities
Building on its market leadership in residential femtocells, Picochip is extending its technology into the more traditional part of the public network, adding support for Iub network architectures to its recently-launched picoXcell(tm) PC333 HSPA+ device, and announcing plans for an optimized dual-mode LTE/HSPA+ basestation.
Picochip technology powers LTE femtocell from Airspan at MWC11
Picochip has today announced that its picoArray technology has been selected to implement LTE and other wireless processing in Airspan’s new multi-standard ‘small cell’ basestation, the AirSynergy. Designed to deliver high-performance data capacity to densely populated urban hotspots, AirSynergy is easy to deploy in metropolitan areas on buildings, strand-mounted from utility poles or on lamp posts.
Single Input/Output Any-Rate Clock Multiplier from Silicon Laboratories
Silicon Laboratories has announced the expansion of its portfolio of reconfigurable, frequency-agile precision clocks to include a single input, single output jitter-attenuating clock multiplier IC. The new Si5319 Any-Rate Precision Clock is capable of generating any output frequency from either a crystal or reference clock input with 0.3 picoseconds jitter generation.
Atmel licenses Quantum Capacitive Touch Technology
Atmel and Quantum Research Group (UK) announced today that Atmel has licensed Quantum’s QTouch and QMatrix capacitive touch technologies. Quantum’s intellectual property will be programmed into Atmel picoPower AVR microcontrollers (MCUs), enabling the devices to be used for both touch sensing and many other control functions, for example driving motor controls, LEDs and displays. QTouch technology is used for simple keys, while QMatrix is us...
