CIP Technologies claims world's first 60GHZ Reflective Electro-Absorption Modulator
CIP Technologies, a company with a long history of photonics innovation, has released a combined modulation and photodetection transducer capable of working at up to 60 GHz - a world first. The new reflective electro-absorption modulator (R-EAM) meets customer needs for a low insertion loss, low drive voltage optical modulator in applications such as remote antennas and radio-over-fibre.
Compact, low-cost and fast hyperspectral imaging solution
At SPIE Photonics West 2012, imec demonstrates a hyperspectral camera solution based on a system-on-chip image sensor with an integrated hyperspectral sensor. Imec’s solution is fast and enables small and cost-efficient camera-solutions. It targets multiple industrial vision applications.
Braggins Joins Knowledge Transfer Network Imaging Group Steering Committee
UKIVA Consultant, Don Braggins, has joined the Imaging Special Interest Group (ISIG) Steering Committee for the Photonics and Plastic Electronics Knowledge Transfer Network (PPEKTN) and the Sensors and Instrumentation Knowledge Transfer Network (SIKTN). The Steering Committee has been formed to provide a greater level of focus on imaging as a joint activity of the SIKTN and PPEKTN ahead of their merger into the Electronics, Sensors & Photonics KT...
Focus on IR high-end cameras at Photonics West 2009
FLIR systems, will be as every year present at the Photonics West 2009 exhibition, being held at the San Jose Convention Center, San Jose, California, USA from the 24th to the 29th january 2009. FLIR will present the most recent additions in its affordable, high performance IR camera range to the US market and more particularly the products from Cedip, now called FLIR ATS.

Agilent Technologies and UC San Diego Collaborate on Chip-Scale Photonic Systems Testing Facility
Agilent Technologies and the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), today announced they have established a new chip-scale micro- and nanophotonic- systems testing facility on the UCSD campus. The new facility is part of the National Science Foundation (NSF) Major Research Instrumentation (MRI) project and is being set up in conjunction with the multi-university Center for Integrated Access Networks (CIAN), led by The University of Arizona.
Spectroscopic Back Thinned CCD Image Sensors with Improved Etaloning Effect for Medical Applications
Hamamatsu Photonics has introduced the new high-speed S11071 series, with vastly reduced etaloning effect, the latest addition of brand new high performance, cost effective back thinned CCD image sensors. Hamamatsu Photonics back thinned CCD technology has long been used in the development of high end analytical and medical instruments. The back thinned technology provides excellent sensitivity in the UV and blue end of the spectrum, combined wit...
Photo IC Replacement for Photo-conductive Cells from Hamamatsu Photonics
Hamamatsu Photonics has introduced a linear output Photo IC, the S10604 to replace traditional CdS photoconductive cells (also known as LDRs), which have been used for many years in visible light sensor products. The use of cadmium in electronic equipment is now restricted under European RoHS legislation, so the alternative S10604 photo IC is fabricated from silicon and is fully compliant with all RoHS regulations.
