Sorting plastics with IR technology
Using components provided by LASER COMPONENTS, a smart student from LowerSaxony developed a method for sorting plastics that could have an effect on therecycling industry. For his project in “Schüler experimentieren” – a popular sciencecompetition for German pupils under 15 – Felix Meyer, a student of Osterholz-Scharmbeck Integrated High School, used six IR diodes to distinguish differentkinds of plastics.
Fixture-integrated sensor with Bluetooth mesh connectivity
Murata has announced a partnership with Silvair, a pioneer in Bluetooth-based lighting control technologies for commercial applications. Murata has selected Silvair’s Bluetoothmesh stack and commissioning platform for its fixture-integrated sensor which is one of the first commercially available products with Bluetooth mesh connectivity for professional lighting.
Extruded enclosures for control electronics
OKW has launched SMART-TERMINAL – a brand new range of sophisticated extruded aluminium and plastic enclosures for control electronics.SMART-TERMINAL is only the second OKW range to combine aluminium extrusions with plastic. It is designed for applications including peripheral and interface equipment, communications, safety engineering, biometrics, medical and laboratory technology, healthcare, measurement and control engineering.
Mobile application can detect atrial fibrillation
An application developed at the University of Turku, can detect atrial fibrillation that causes strokes. Atrial fibrillation can be detected with the mobile phone application without any extra equipment. The mobile application can save lives all over the world as timely diagnosis of atrial fibrillation is crucial for effective stroke prevention. The joint research project of the University of Turku and the Heart Centre of the Turku University H...
Tipping gear fitted to first vehicles out the door
The Thompsons Group, claims to be the UK’s leading tipper bodybuilder, and therefore prioritises reliability and good customer service above all else. Having established its new Scottish operations in July 2017, its first order was for five 32 tonne Loadmaster bodies for the NWH Group. The customer chose to specify lightweight Edbro CX15 cylinders on all of the five bodies, believing Edbro to be the best on the market. Thompsons was happy t...
Decades of experience brings happiness through hydraulics
Solving the age-long problem of tool stability when drilling in deep cavities alongside tall shoulders, and past bulky fixtures, Kennametal has the answer.Reaching deep inside a workpiece to drill holes can be a real bear. You´ve tried taper length and aircraft drills, but even those made of solid carbide are apt to wander when hanging out of the chuck unsupported. Maybe you´ve combatted the problem with special extended-reach drill h...
High precision alignment lasers with small beam profile
LASER COMPONENTS has announced two additions to its portfolio of high-precision alignment lasers: LT-PLM-635-01-C1 and LT-PLM-IRB-635-01-C1. At the exit point, the beams of these precision modules feature diameters of 1mm and a squint angle of just 0.05mrad, which equals 5/100mm per metre distance from the target. With standard modules, the aberration from the centre of the housing is considerably higher at 8.7mm.
Reinventing the muting process
Muting processes are now being made more economical, simpler and safer, with the new process from Leuze electronics, ‘Smart Process Gating’.In intralogistics as well as in the automotive and packaging industry, material locks often need to be safeguarded against unauthorised access by means of safety sensors.
Miniature laser sensors with precise detection ability
Designed with IO-Link technology, the new O300 miniature laser sensors from Baumer are especially for the reliable detection of very small objects and gaps. Thanks to a laser beam which focuses to within 0.1mm and the high repeat accuracy of 0.1mm, objects can be positioned with high precision and follow-up processes controlled exactly.
