400W surge capability protects portable electronics
Hailed as the industry's first to feature a 2% breakdown voltage tolerance, a series of surface-mount Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) protection diodes has been unveiled by Vishay Intertechnology. The VTVSxxASMF series devices provide a high surge capability of 400W at 10/1000μs in a low-profile SMF package, making it suited for portable electronics.
Metallic glue could replace soldering & welding
Perhaps no startup was launched for a more intriguing reason than that of Northeastern’s Hanchen Huang. “MesoGlue was founded by Huang and two of his PhD students: They had a dream of a better way of sticking things together.” Those “things” are everything from a computer’s central processing unit and a PCB to the glass and metal filament in a light bulb.
Gen3 Systems at Southern Manufacturing
Gen3 Systems is exhibiting at Southern Manufacturing which starts on February 9. The GensonicStencil Cleaning system will be displayed with a 24in stencil frame. It uses a 40kHz on-contact ultrasonic transducer for high efficiency cleaning of stencil apertures and can be used either in conjunction with Gen3 stencil cleaning centres or is portable enough to be taken directly to the printer.

BiSy ESD protection diodes offer 3.3V low working range
Vishay Intertechnology has released two BiSy (Bidirectional Symmetrical) single-line ESD protection diodes for portable electronics with a low working range of 3.3V in the ultra-compact CLP0603 silicon package. Measuring just 0.6x0.3mm with a very low height of 0.27mm, the VBUS03B1-SD0 and VCUT03E1-SD0 offer ultra-low capacitance and leakage current for the protection of high-speed data lines and antennas against transient voltage signals.
Solder unit enables right first time connections
The Weller Automatic Solder Wire System, which delivers single-handed and high-precision manual soldering ability to engineers, enables right-first-time soldering connections that help reduce reworking costs. It is in stock at RS Components. The unit features an automatic solder wire feeder integrated into the soldering iron itself.
Satellite navigation system antenna provides wireless signal reception
Pulse Electronics Corporation's Monarch series multi-mode global navigation satellite system ceramic antennas provide wireless signal reception for the four major global and regional satellite systems: GPS, GLONASS, Beidou (Compass) and Galileo. The Monarch series W3010 is a compact, low profile antenna that delivers high efficiency (75% typical) over a wide bandwidth for enhanced navigation and device tracking.
