UK-based pet-tech company, PitPat, are taking the lead and tackling the current problem of dog obseity. The company's dog activity monitor is making a big difference to the health of their existing ‘Pack’ of app users who recently burnt over 240 million collective calories which is the equivalent of around 1 million Big Macs.
Smart bandage could promote faster healing
Researchers from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Harvard Medical School and MIT have designed a smart bandage that could eventually heal chronic wounds or battlefield injuries with every fibre of its being. The bandage consists of electrically conductive fibres coated in a gel that can be individually loaded with infection-fighting antibiotics, tissue-regenerating growth factors, painkillers or other medications.

700 million smartphones sold in first half 2017
In the technical consumer goods arena smartphones are again the powerhouse. In addition to a new record in global demand for smartphones in the first half of 2017, the average selling price (ASP) also increased. These are GfK's findings for the global telecom market on the occasion of IFA 2017 in Berlin. GfK data shows that, between January and June 2017, 700 million smartphones were sold worldwide.
