Top 5 tech products shown at IFA 2023 Berlin
IFA 2023, the trade show where some of the biggest names in industry come to show off their latest tech, just concluded its 99th edition in September.
Featuring cutting-edge tech innovations from more than 2,000 brands representing nearly 50 countries, this annual event, held every September in Berlin, Germany, gives a glimpse to the general public some of the innovations at early stage of mass production, months before they are widely seen on shop shelves.
With tech titans like LG, Samsung, Lenovo, Roborock, and numerous others exhibiting, one might feel like a proverbial kid in a candy store in deciding what to cover from the event. Yet, with the buzz this year being around AI (thanks, ChatGPT) and wearables (hello, Apple!) we decided our picks would reflect some element of the zeitgeist. And so, here are our Top 5 tech products we’ve seen covered at the show.
1: SwitchBot S10 - SwitchBot's S10 robot vacuum and mop takes a unique approach to the common chore of refilling the cleaning dock with water. This robot directly connects to your home's plumbing, typically located in the laundry or kitchen. It automatically drains and refills itself, making the concept of a robotic mop even more appealing. Priced at $1,200, it launches in October.
2: DreameBot L20 Ultra - The DreameBot L20 Ultra addresses a common issue by effectively cleaning along the edges of baseboards and carpets. This combination robot vacuum and mop features AI-enhanced mop pads that extend when the robot detects edges and corners, ensuring a thorough sweep. Priced at $1,500, autonomous floor cleaning is closer than you think!
3: Withings ScanWatch 2 - Withings' ScanWatch 2 offers a blend of traditional design and modern health tracking. With new sensors for skin temperature, heart rate variability, and respiratory rate, in addition to existing health metrics, it caters to health-conscious individuals. It's available in various sizes and colours, including a rose gold bezel, with prices starting at $350.
4: Cleanr Vortx - Sustainability took centre stage at IFA 23, with Cleanr's Vortx filtration system standing out. It can be integrated into washing machines to remove up to 90% of microplastics, addressing a significant source of global pollution. Ideally, such systems will be standard in future washing machines to combat this issue effectively.
5: Urbanista Malibu - Self-Charging Speaker: Urbanista's Malibu portable Bluetooth speaker boasts a built-in solar panel, ensuring it remains charged wherever it goes, whether at the beach, campsite, or by the pool. With a full day of playtime on a single charge and IP67 water and dust resistance, it's a convenient and eco-friendly audio companion. The Malibu, available in gray or black, retails for $149.
