SEGGER has introduced emWin4Web, an innovative tool allowing developers to run graphical user interfaces (GUIs) for embedded systems directly within web browsers.

emWin4Web replicates every feature of the emWin library that would typically run on a target device, ensuring an accurate, pixel-perfect representation of the GUI in the browser.

emWin4Web is the latest enhancement to SEGGER’s emWin package, a highly efficient embedded graphics library for creating interactive user interfaces. Its small memory footprint makes emWin an ideal solution for resource-limited microcontroller-based systems.

With emWin4Web, developers can now compile emWin and AppWizard applications into WebAssembly using a command-line tool. This makes it possible to run, demonstrate, and test applications on a wide range of platforms, including Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS, using any major browser, without the need to download or install software. The tool allows developers to share applications more easily, providing widespread access to prototypes and demonstrations across various devices.

The versatility of emWin4Web also facilitates improved team collaboration, enabling members to review and interact with prototypes directly in their browsers, even without access to a full simulation environment or dedicated hardware.

Furthermore, emWin4Web includes a feature for setting up a local web server, allowing developers to quickly open and test their compiled examples. To fully utilise emWin4Web’s capabilities, access to the emWin source code is required, ensuring seamless integration.
