The Hessian flux specialist Emil Otto GmbH launched the water-based flux EO-G-006 back in 2023. This is a No Clean-Flux is suitable for wave, manual, and selective soldering of printed circuit boards.

It contains organic, halogen-free, activating additives specially adapted to the soldering processes. This is followed by variants A, B, and C with different levels of solids.

"The water-based EO-G-006 has been developed in a combination with lead and lead-free solders that is specially tailored to the thermal requirements of the soldering process," says Markus Geßner, Marketing and Sales Manager at Emil Otto GmbH. EO-G-006 is based on a formulation to stabilise and improve the application process compared to conventional water-based or partially water-based fluxes. As Emil Otto received, particularly from other European and Asian countries, an increasing number of enquiries regarding a water-based flux with a higher solids content, in 2023 EO-G-006 was developed with a solids content of 5%.

The new versions A to C have a low solids content. Version A has a solids content of 2%, version B 3%, and version C 4%.

"With the EO-G-006 series, we have succeeded in developing an extremely clean and very temperature stable flux. By adding special, VOC-free alcohol compounds, the flux has significantly better drying behaviour in the soldering process than other conventional, water-based fluxes. Furthermore, the fluxes in the EO-G-006 series are significantly more stable and less sensitive to cold," continues Geßner.

EO-G-006 and its variants A to C are also available as a concentrate and are biodegradable as water-based fluxes. They are therefore not classified as hazardous goods and can be transported, handled, or stored in the conventional manners. Simple, conventional storage in particular represents considerable added value. The fluxes can also be shipped at a lower cost.

All Green Line fluxes can be used on the soldering systems known on the market. The soldering results correspond to those achieved with alcohol-based fluxes. It is therefore simple to switch to ecological, water-based fluxes.
