Yokogawa Test & Measurement has announced its new AQ6361 optical spectrum analyzer (OSA).

This high-performance yet cost-effective benchtop OSA is designed predominantly for the production testing of datacom and telecom components such as laser diodes, optical transceivers, and optical amplifiers. The production-grade AQ6361 achieves up to 20 times the measurement speed of the best-selling AQ6370E model. This product will be exhibited at Asia Photonics Expo (Singapore, February 26-28).

The widespread adoption of AI has had a dramatic impact on business, education, and communications, leading to a rapid increase in the construction of AI-dedicated data centres.

These facilities must process large volumes of data at high speeds, driving a surge in demand for optical modules and devices capable of supporting this.

“Companies producing optical devices, optical modules, and other optical components require faster, smaller, and higher performance OSAs to meet rapidly increasing demand,” says Terry Marrinan, VP Sales & Marketing at Yokogawa Test & Measurement. “The AQ6361 meets these production needs by offering fast measurement, a compact instrument envelope, and excellent optical performance for a variety of devices, all while satisfying customer demands for a cost-effective solution that does not compromise on the quality and reliability for which our instruments are renowned.

Main features

Up to 20 times the measurement speed of conventional models

The AQ6361 OSA offers up to 20 times the measurement speed of the best-selling AQ6370E. This dramatically reduces the production test time for customers' optical devices and allows them to significantly improve production efficiency.

Compact design

The new model is approximately half the size of the AQ6370E. This space-saving design is in direct response to customer requests for a measuring instrument that takes up minimal bench space. The model is also suitable for integration into laser diode chip testers and other test systems.

High optical performance

The AQ6361 offers a wavelength resolution of 0.03nm and a wavelength range of 1200 to 1700nm. Additionally, it provides high dynamic range measurements with excellent stray light suppression performance of 73dB. These features make it adaptable for various optical modules testing.
