Updated XCP reference book addresses CAN FD
The second edition of the technical reference book “XCP – The Standard Protocol for ECU Development” is now available from Vector Software. In the new edition, the authors have addressed new topics such as the use of CAN FD as a transport layer. The XCP reference book can be ordered free-of-charge from the Vector website – in printed form or in various digital versions.
The XCP reference book explains the fundamentals and mechanisms of the XCP measurement and calibration protocol, and it goes on to describe its use areas and added value for ECU calibration.
XCP, a protocol standardised by ASAM, enables flexible read and write access to memory contents in the ECU. The authors describe the layout of the A2L file and how to create it for an XCP Slave, they also discuss various measurement and calibration concepts.
The book offers detailed explanations of how the standard is used in different use areas such as software-in-the-loop, rapid prototyping, bypassing and in virtual ECUs. Based on a sample XCP implementation, the authors illustrate the fundamental mechanisms that must be considered in the software code.
The new edition of the XCP reference book by authors Andreas Patzer and Rainer Zaiser consists of 120 pages and 73 figures in the print version. The book can also be downloaded from the Vector website in three digital versions: as a PDF, EPUB or MOBI file.
