Thermal process control software introduced at APEX 2017
PDR Americas announced a rework control package that reduces setup and changeover times effectively to zero and makes precision rework as simple as pushing a button. The ThermoActive+ Software will be demonstrated in Booth #2753 at the 2017 IPC APEX EXPO, scheduled to take place Feb. 14-16, 2017 at the San Diego Convention Center in Calif.
The ThermoActive+ Software suite features ‘one-touch’ automatic process functionality, press and go features, PSI advanced process setup guidance, automatic reports, automatic heating/cooling/vacuum controls, and more. Additional features include automatic thermal control and automatic real-time adjustment of settings to switch from small to large applications.
In addition to simplifying rework batch runs, this approach also means that changeovers can be handled automatically without the need to change tools or run the system through a teaching mode for new setups, both of which require the skills of trained personnel. Additionally, different board types are handled automatically, as the software recognises the different heating rates of larger or smaller masses and adjusts accordingly.
A key benefit of the latest ThermoActive+ Software release is its ability to provide accurate real-time feedback of board and device temperatures from the rework station. These modes allow the process to run fully automatically without the aid of a skilled technician and provide for true in-process control over the rework process.
The software is designed to be as easy-to-use as possible and is rooted in the company's philosophy of providing inline process quality for the offline rework process. It allows BGAs and other complex devices to be removed and reworked with the user-simplicity associated with hand tools, but the process control and capability of high-end, fully capable rework stations.
The ThermoActive+ Software package is designed for use with PDR’s next-generation rework systems that include tool and nozzle free, gas-free systems based on the company's patented focused IR technology. In essence, the software controls the process while the rework platform provides efficient lower and upper side heating plus the vital temperature feedback data.
PDR Rework Systems remains at the forefront of rework technology by providing air nozzle free systems with advanced in-process control features and visible light that takes the guesswork out of rework.
