Spirent Communications, a global provider of network, devices and services testing solutions, today announced that it has joined forces with other leading companies from across the communications and networking industries to form the Network Test Automation Forum (NTAF). Spirent will work alongside other NTAF founding members to promote interoperability between test tools and simplify lab automation efforts, ultimately reducing time, complexity, and cost of product test cycles.
“Spirent has been committed to these goals for quite some time as evidenced by our efforts within the Test Automation Alliance,” stated Andrew Armstrong, senior manager at Spirent and vice president of NTAF. “The emergence of NTAF is a validation of these efforts and will result in the creation of a customer-centric and device-agnostic framework that meets the automation needs of our customers and the industry as a whole.”

“An integrated and collaborative approach to test automation is critical for today’s test engineers to effectively validate performance of the networks systems and services,” said Elisabeth Rainge, director of Network Software at IDC “Spirent's efforts to drive coordination fit with customer priorities and clearly contribute to the NTAF objective of improving test productivity, time to market and cost of ownership for operating automated test systems.”

Spirent, with the formation of Test Automation Alliance (TAA), was the first test company to facilitate the integration and interoperability of commercial testing tools and test infrastructure. Spirent’s NoCode™ automation framework openly interfaces with other test equipment and automation application providers to deliver a device agnostic approach that drives cost efficiencies and productivity improvements during product development. With the NTAF having gained industry wide support, the Spirent-led Test Automation Alliance (TAA) will now channel its efforts to fully support NTAF and promote its objectives globally.

“Our goal is to provide complete transparency in the Forum’s activities and ensure a level playing field for all members.” said Keith Kidd, president of NTAF. “By encouraging industry wide participation, NTAF is working toward establishing interoperable testing solutions for service providers, network equipment manufacturers, and other enterprise organizations with large network deployments.”
