In response to growing customer demand, Newtons4th has launched the PPA500 power analyser. This entry level model has been designed specifically to address requests for a high performance, high accuracy N4L power analyser at a competitive price point.
The PPA500 shares many innovative design features with the larger and more expensive instruments in the PPA range, including a gain mode for stand-by power measurement, high speed sampling with gapless measurement and the unique, high accuracy N4L internal shunt. It is available in 1, 2 or 3 phase configurations and there is the option to install it in a 19” rack, whereby two units can be positioned side by side to provide a 2U 6 Phase solution.

The PPA500 offers basic accuracy of 0.05% and - like all N4L power analysers - is calibrated and manufacturer certified throughout its entire operating range. This means that although the price of the PPA500 is comparable with entry level models from a number of well known manufacturers, the accuracy of the Newtons4th instrument far exceeds what can be achieved by these apparent alternatives.

Like other instruments in the N4L range, the PPA500 will be distributed in the UK by Caltest Instruments. General Manager, David Sheath said:

“Newtons4th manufactures some of the most advanced and powerful bench-top power analysers on the market today. From their award winning flagship model, the PPA5500, right down through the rest of the range, all PPA instruments make use of technical innovations and custom components that enable them to dramatically outperform the immediate competition.

“With the release of the PPA500, Newtons4th are making the kind of performance that is usually associated with high cost power analysers available in what is essentially a budget instrument. It should represent a significant challenge to the existing players at this end of the market and I am looking forward to being a part of its success.”
