New Premium SUV Audi Q3 Adopts MOST(R) Technology
SMSC announced that the Media Oriented Systems Transport (MOST) networking technology, the accepted standard for high bandwidth infotainment networking in the car, has been selected as the backbone of the infotainment system of the all new Audi Q3 model. MOST is now in 107 car models.
WithWith the implementation of MOST in the A8 model in 2002, Audi was one of the first adopters of this technology, stated Dr. Christian Thiel, Vice President and General Manager of SMSC's Automotive Information Systems group. Audi is one of MOST Cooperation's core partners and plays a significant role in advancing this technology and its standardization. We are pleased that Audi relies on MOST technology in the all new Q3 model, as it does in its whole line of SUV models. This is proof of the quality and robust performance benefits of the MOST network. The fact that Audi has also implemented MOST in its entire SUV Q family is also proof that the technology can be scaled to suit all classes of vehicles, from premium to compact.
MOST multimedia networking technology enables the networking of feature-rich infotainment systems in automobiles by providing the means to distribute multimedia entertainment functions among the various control devices around the car. For example, a CD- or DVD changer, radio, GPS-navigation, mobile telephone and digital media-interfaces can supply signals to this efficient ring network. The signals are sent digitally and static-free to the amplifier and monitors.
