LeCroy Upgrades Verification Package to Support USB-IF Link Layer Test Specification
LeCroy Corporation, a worldwide leader in serial data test solutions, has upgraded their USB 3.0 Verification Suite to support the latest draft of the USB Implementers Forum’s Link Layer Test Specification. Expected to be ratified later this quarter, the Link Layer Test Specification will become part of the certification suite for certifying USB 3.0 devices starting in mid-2010 by vendors seeking SuperSpeed USB logo certification.
LeCrThis release of the LeCroy Verification Suite includes superset coverage for the Link and Framework Test Specifications which addresses chapters 6, 7 and 9 of the USB 3.0 specification. It provides 128 separate test cases for devices and 64 test cases for USB 3.0 host ports, making it the most comprehensive test suite available for post silicon validation of USB 3.0 based devices.
Beta sites have praised LeCroy’s analyzer-based verification solution for its turn-key operation. “Integrating verification test capabilities with the LeCroy analyzer gives us one-button operation and the confidence that the results are both accurate and auditable, ” said James Ou, Allion’s Director of Personal Application Testing Center. “LeCroy’s large test suite provides the perfect compliment for our expanding verification services for SuperSpeed USB” .
Introduced in fall of 2009, the verification suite previously required Voyager systems equipped with the Exerciser option. With this announcement, LeCroy has provisioned a special configuration of the Voyager system that includes the verification suite capability without the full exerciser. The new Voyager Pro Plus analyzer allows developers to deploy more systems that incorporate automated verification during every regression cycle at a very attractive incremental cost.
“Developers working on SuperSpeed USB SOC designs or retrofitting USB 3.0 capabilities into existing products can benefit from this substantial test bed, ” said Michael Romm, Director of Product Development at LeCroy’s Protocol Solutions Group. “Using the Voyager USB verification suite to pre-test a device for USB 3.0 conformance will ultimately help developers deliver products to market earlier and with higher quality. ”
