HDCP 2.2 support added to handheld analyser/generator
A new member has been added to the quantumdata 780 series handheld test instruments from Teledyne LeCroy. The new 780E Multi-Protocol Analyser / Generator is equipped with DisplayPort input and output ports making it the only portable instrument capable of testing HDMI, HDBaseT and DisplayPort devices and distribution networks including HDCP 2.2 verification.
Chuck Evans, Vice President of Sales for Video Productsat Teledyne LeCroy remarked, “The variety of digital interfaces supported (HDMI, DisplayPort, HDBaseT) along with the instrument’s rich feature set make the 780E an invaluable test tool for test engineers in R&D labs and professional A/V integrators in the field.”
“As consumer electronic products ranging from desktop PCs to mobile devices increasingly incorporate the DisplayPort digital interface to drive 4K and higher video resolutions, it’s essential for the electronics supply chain to have the testing infrastructure needed to ensure product interoperability,” stated Bill Lempesis, executive director of the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA). “We applaud and support the efforts of VESA member companies, like Teledyne LeCroy, that are providing test solutions such as the new quantumdata 780E test instrument to diagnose and resolve interoperability issues between DisplayPort devices in the field.”
The 780E offers the broadest feature set available in a portable instrument, supporting tests for video, audio, protocols and the auxiliary channels.
The instrument can run quick verification tests on distinct devices of any type (sources, repeaters, sinks) as well as entire video distribution networks, including heterogeneous networks comprising a mix of HDMI, DisplayPort and HDBaseT devices.
Both the DisplayPort interfaces, which support link rates up to 5.4 Gb/s on 1, 2 or 4 lanes, and the 600MHz HDMI interfaces support verification of HDCP 2.2 authentication on sources and sinks (displays).
In addition, the instrument’s Auxiliary Channel Analyser (ACA) utility enables users to monitor the HDCP 2.2 transactions in the same way the HDCP 1.4 transactions can be monitored currently on the existing 780 models.
