Fluke Networks, the leader in network installation, monitoring and analysis, today announced its latest Network Time Machine hardware platform, a high-performance network forensics recorder for back-in-time analysis. Leveraging its unique application-centric analysis technology, Network Time Machine allows network engineers to quickly get to the heart of performance problems across all applications.
With Network Time Machine’s data recorder, data center engineers can store data for days, weeks or months depending on traffic load. The next step in performing network forensics is analyzing the data, and with Network Time Machine, network engineers can review and extract information quickly to analyze past events and the traffic leading up to, or causing, specific problems.

Unlike similar products on the market where the analysis is focused on network-layer data, Network Time Machine focuses its analysis at the application layer. Powerful built-in tools simplify and speed root cause analysis through an intuitive interface so network engineers can easily retrieve the information they need without looking at the packets. Ideal for both carriers and enterprise customers, the new enhanced hardware platform supports a stream-to-disk rate up to full 10 gigabits per second, ensuring that engineers have all the traffic required for complete back-in-time analysis, which is essential for projects like data center consolidation and unified communications management.
Network Time Machine now offers Advanced Capacity Management (ACM), a frame de-duplication feature that eliminates the unnecessary capture of redundant data, maximizing disk capacity and allowing engineers to store and quickly extract the exact information they need for analysis. For even greater efficiency, Network Time Machine offers a combined “filter and/or slice” whereby customers can store entire packets on selected critical applications, but only a slice of the background traffic.
