Environmental testing capabilities have been expanded at Element Materials Technology's Denver, Colorado location. Its investment in a thermal vacuum chamber complements existing thermal testing and bake out capabilities, underlining Element’s ability to deliver technical expertise with operational performance which is critical to these sectors.

The capability allows clients to test to extreme temperatures and pressures, from cryogenic temperatures to 150°C, and pressures of up to 1x10-7torr. This includes both Product Qualification Testing (PQT) of components and a range of Materials Testing (MT) services, including sterilisation/decontamination for space applications.

Rick Sluiters, Element’s Executive Vice President, Aerospace, commented: “There is significant demand within the local Aerospace market for more extreme testing capabilities. Following this investment, we now have a fully comprehensive set of capabilities in environmental testing demonstrating our commitment to the Aerospace and Defense supply chain. Element’s technical expertise is such that very few organisations are able to provide this type of service, with the requisite level of quality control and project management demanded in the sector.”

Element’s Pacific Northwest locations provide a full range of environmental testing capabilities to RTCA DO-160, MIL-STD 810 and ISO/IEC 17025:2005 standards, as well as holding a number of aerospace prime and supply chain approvals.
