Easy-to-use SPI system boasts 6.4TFLOPS
Vi Technology's Pi (π) SPI system has been purchased by Hunter Technology and installed in its Silicon Valley facility. In a competitive side-by-side evaluation, the Pi was the clear choice for Hunter Technology. This next-gen SPI features ease of programming, ease of maintenance, operator friendliness and automatic threshold settings.
Combined with Sigma Link, it features a comprehensive range of data management software tools that deliver a complete enterprise solution. Pi enables users to improve processes through a complete analysis of the solder joints versus solder paste deposit. Adding flexibility and cost-effectiveness to the package, Pi is compatible with all major printers.
With 360° Moiré technology, Pi is the first SPI to use multiple digital projectors along with angled cameras to measure the solder paste deposit. Taking approximately 352 images per field of view, and thanks to a computer system that can provide 6.4Tflops, Pi provides an ultra-large image in 3D true color. It offers a large PCB capability (up to 533x600mm) within the industry’s smallest system footprint (only 800mm wide), responding to the increasing constraints on floor space in modern SMT lines.
“Being invited to participate in Hunter’s evaluation process gave Vi's Pi SPI system a forum to demonstrate our groundbreaking SPI technology,” said Rich Rivas, Western Regional Sales Manager, Vi. “We are delighted to have been chosen by Hunter Technology as its SPI solution for now and the future.”
“Our engineering team really put the Pi system through its paces in a side-by-side trial lasting more than a month, covering everything from data output value to programming time,” added Mark Evans, COO, Hunter. “In addition to our engineers’ validation, however, was the feedback from the SMT line operators regarding Pi’s ease of use. From a personal perspective, I am comfortable that the systems we have purchased are as futureproof as possible, backed by some excellent technical support. The Hunter team was impressed by the way our technical feedback was welcomed and immediately implemented in software updates.”
