Distrelec selling Rohde & Schwarz MXO 4 oscilloscope
Distributor Distrelec is now stocking the new Rohde & Schwarz (R&S) MXO 4 series oscilloscope, claimed to be the first in the world to offer a real-time update rate of 4.5 million waveforms per second.
The freature enables engineers to see more infrequent events than is possible with any other instrument. Users can not only capture more signals but also measure them more accurately.
The R&S MXO 4 series is the first of a new generation of oscilloscopes with its 12-bit ADC at all sample rates. The instruments’ 12-bit vertical resolution (18-bits with HD) delivers 16 times the resolution of traditional 8-bit oscilloscopes without any compromising on measurement precision.
Users can see sharper waveforms with signal details that would otherwise be masked by noise. As well as superior vertical resolution, these new oscilloscopes have the lowest-in-industry system measurement noise of 22µV AC (RMS) at 1 mV/div.
Consisting of five models with bandwidth of 200MHz to 1.5GHz, the R&S MXO 4 series also boast the industry’s deepest standard acquisition memory of 400 Mpoints on all four channels and an optional 800 Mpoints interleaved. At the heart of the new scope is the MXO-EP (extreme performance) application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) which processes 200 Gbit/s.
The R&S MXO 4 has up to 100 times the standard memory of comparable instruments and the memory controller in the MXO-EP ensures the oscilloscope stays responsive with deep memory.
Other features that put the R&S MXO 4 series above similar oscilloscopes include the fastest trigger rearm time on the market of 21ns, a best-in-class trigger jitter of < 1ps, and the industry’s most sensitive trigger of 1/10,000 vertical division (users can apply digital filters to suppress noise to get the most precise triggering available). Delivering a sample rate of up to 5 Gsample/s, the scope can also capture up to 80ms of power up or power down sequences with the highest sample resolution of 200ps.
Additional ground-breaking features of the R&S MXO 4 include the fastest and most accurate spectrum analysis function in its class (as well as industry-leading dual-path protocol analysis). The scope has a spectrum acquisition rate of 45,000 FFT/s, which enables spurious spectrum events to be captured, especially during EMI debugging.
The scope has also been made easy to use within 15 minutes thanks to an intuitive user interface and R&S SmartGrid on a 13.3" full HD capacitive touchscreen.
