GOEPEL electronic has introduced 9305-BAC/RS232, another Bus Access Cables (BAC) as new member of the industry leading JTAG/Boundary Scan hardware platform SCANFLEX® In connection with the SCANFLEX multi port module SFX9305, new family member of Bus Access Cables enables the test of RS232 interfaces in combination with extended JTAG/Boundary Scan operations based on a unique platform.
“RS232 still plays an important role for embedded designs as communication and control interface, which we are able to test with the new Bus Access Cable at full dynamics”, Bettina Richter, GOEPEL electronic’s Marketing Manager, gladly announces. “Now there is the opportunity to implement test strategies as combinations of emulation tests, structural Boundary Scan tests, firmware programming and functional interface control based on a unique platform.”

9305-BAC/RS232 is the fifth member of the product series following the release of Bus Access Cables (BAC) for Bluetooth, LAN and USB2.0 (Master/Slave), and can be plugged into each free port of the SFX-9305 SCANFLEX® I/O module. The interface is recognised and configured automatically, whereby BAC type and number to be used can then be freely defined by the user.

Available interface functions contain the stepwise handling of protocol layers incl. bi-directional data transfer. Consequently, users are able to completely control the interface target without additional driver software, and clearly identify faults.

In connection with the SFX-9305 module, 9305-BAC/RS232 can be freely combined with all SCANFLEX® controllers on PCI, PCI Express, Cabled PCI Express, PXI, PXI Express, FireWire, USB or LAN basis. It is fully supported in the industry leading Boundary Scan Software SYSTEM CASCON™ from version 4.5 on. Module configuration and handling of test program data are based on user-friendly CASLAN instructions. CASLAN is an extremely powerful Boundary Scan programming language with several hundred commands supporting IEEE1149.1, IEEE1149.4, IEEE1149.6, IEEE1532, and JESD71 as well as mixed signal operations and VarioTAP® for emulation test.
