Aven Quick-Test Tweezers Identify, Test Electronic Components
A handheld digital meter with gold-plated tips speeds circuit board testing and component identification by electronics manufacturers. The new Quick-Test Tweezers from Aven Inc are designed to replace bulky multi-meters for troubleshooting and parts recognition.
The This one-touch instrument simplifies quality assurance and diagnostic tasks, says Mike Shahpurwala, president of Aven. Its automatic recognition feature usually is available only on higher-end models.
Components are identified automatically on an LCD screen as a resistor, capacitor or diode. During continuity checks, a buzzer sounds when resistance is below 30 ohms.
Applications in R&D, assembly, training and tech support also include testing for shorts, determining diode polarity and extracting parts from a printed circuit board. One-hand use allows record-keeping during operation.
Aven's Quick-Test Tweezers have a thermoplastic rubber coating for comfort and durability. An auto-power shutoff and overload protection preserve the long-life Lithium battery, which is included. A low-power indicator shows when battery replacement will be needed. The instrument's storage box has two spare test pins, which are gold-plated to reduce resistance and prevent rust.
