A multifunctional digital high-end oscilloscope DS70000 Series which is part of the StationMax program has been released by RIGOL Technologies EU.

This oscilloscope series is based on a brand-new extended platform, the UltraVision III architecture for higher sample rate, increased memory depth, faster waveform capture rate and better vertical resolution compared to previous designs.

The core of the UltraVision III architecture is the Phoenix chip-set with several ASICs developed in-house, which build the analogue front-end and deliver the signal processing performance.

This oscilloscope series offers four analogue channels and is the first version using a sample rate up to 20 GSa/s.

With this sample rate, two models (DS70300 und DS70500) with two different frequency ranges of 3 GHz and 5 GHz are available.

This series has a size of 7U full rack and provides two touch screens.

The first screen is a very large capacitive 15.6-inch angle-adjustable colour touchscreen which can also be split for different windows to help the user to get various types of information at different windows.

The second 3.5-inch touch screen can be used for an efficient and easy control menu to easily realise the required settings. The knobs contain photoelectronic and have a very long service life with more than 100.000 times of rotation.

A very deep memory depth of up to 2 GPts is available for all channels for the acquisition and processing of large amounts of data. The signal acquisition rate of up to 1 mio Wfms/s enables ceaseless real-time recording and playback of signals with up to 2 mio frames.

The vertical resolution can be changed between 8-bit and 16-bit resolution which is ideal for measuring very tiny signal components.

This series comprises two types of spectrum analysis. The normal FFT analysis using 1 mio sample points to display the frequency spectrum. The enhanced FFT using a very fast calculation speed of 10.000 FFT/sec to realise real time spectrum analysis.

The DS70000 series is ideally suited for the very fast acquisition and analysis of signals.

Typical applications include automated tests, protocol analysis for serial buses in automotive electronics like CAN-FD, SENT, FlexRay, LIN, RS232, SPI and measurement of electronic circuits, measurements and analysis of switching power applications, and many more. Due to the high bandwidth and the optimised spectrum analysis, this scope can be perfectly used for RF measurements.

This oscilloscope is equipped with the new integrated measurement method including real-time eye diagram, jitter analysis software and display of the jitter trend, in order to measure jitter and noise of a digital transmission in very good and clear quality or to measure the required data to a self-defined pass/fail mask.

Specially for 10/100/1000 Mb/s Ethernet or USB2.0 transmission, a pre-compliance test tool can be used to qualify the required transmission line.

The various trigger (e.g. zone trigger), math and display options as well as all the usual serial bus protocol analysis functions are now available in an expanded form. Integrated voltmeter, frequency counter and totalizer complete the measurement range (5-in-1 device).

Various interfaces such as USB3.0 Host, USB Device, HDMI, LAN, 10 G SFP+ and TRIG OUT, 10 MHz IN/OUT, AUX OUT and USB-GPIB (option) are available. This oscilloscope supports web-control interface for remote control.

This new series is the preferred high-performance oscilloscope in research and development, universities, production and quality control in the automotive, communications and aerospace industries as well as in power electronics, etc.

A recommended accessory for DS70000 Series is the new active differential probe series PVA8000 which is available for 3.5 GHz, 5 GHz or 7 GHz. PVA8000 contents the new -Phoenics Probe ASIC.
