Strategic Test Corp has released six new Transient Recorder cards in the UF2-4700 series. Using multiple 16-bit ADC’s for true simultaneous sampling, the cards are available with a choice of maximum sampling rates of 100 kS/s, 250 kS/s and 500 kS/s. The cards are available in 8- or 16-channel configurations enabling the user to select the most cost-effective solution with prices from only $160 per channel. Drivers for Microsoft Windows XP and XP64 (64 bit) and Linux (32-bit and 64-bit) are supplied together with free downloads of future OS version drivers such as Windows Vista. Drivers for MATLAB, LabVIEW, VEE, DASYLab and LabWindows/CVI are available as cost-options.
“During the development special attention was paid to the quality of the input gain section and the A/D converters”, Bob Giblett, President of Strategic Test commented. “This resulted in extremely low noise and distortion on all input ranges, and a resolution of more than 14.9 effective number of bits (ENOB), SNR better than 91 dB, a THD figure less than 101 dB and a SFDR better than 108.9 dB”.

Each channel contains an independent amplifier that allows the user to program each channel with the voltage range to best match each sensor. Eight ranges are provided from ±50 mV to ±10 V. A self-calibration feature ensures the removal of any dc offsets prior to recording.

Based on the new PCI-X (66 MHz / 32-bit PCI) bus-based UF2 series carrier card, these cards can continuously transfer data to the host PC at up to 112 mega samples (225 Mbyte) per second. It is also possible to continuously record for hours to hard disks set up in a RAID configuration at up to 105 mega samples per second, thereby saving the cost of adding expensive onboard memory.

Using the Star Hub option, up to 16 cards in a single industrial PC can be configured as a synchronous system. In addition the System Star Hub option allows up to 271 cards in up to 16 PC’s to be synchronized, giving over 4000 simultaneous channels, all sharing a sampling clock. This channel count potential can be especially interesting for users of the older CAMAC card format of chassis based data acquisition systems who are looking to migrate to a new platform with a low channel cost.

The UF2-4700 cards offer a wide range of triggering possibilities including level, window, pulse-width, re-arm and double triggers as well as an external TTL trigger input. It’s possible to set trigger conditions on multiple cards or systems combined with AND/OR, a feature often used in production test processes.

The Ultrafast UF2-4700 cards are available immediately and prices range from 2140 Euro for the UF2-4710 8 channel 100 kS/s card, to 5450 Euro for the 16 channel 500 kS/s version. Volume discounts and OEM customization prices are available on request.
