Sensors suit mobile & wearable applications
Tronics Microsystems has expanded its business model to high volumes markets with the licensing of its Magelan and M&NEMS technologies. The products manufactured on these platforms offer key differentiators, from inertial sensors enhancement to the combination of all measurement types on a single chip, paving the way for new fields of application, in particular for the mobile and wearable devices market.
The Magelan process technology platform features capacitive technology for 6-axis monolithic chips. Designed for miniaturised high performance inertial sensors, the platform is suitable for high volume applications.
The M&NEMS process technology platform features piezoresistive nanowire technology, which combines up to 10 axis. Measuring less than 4mm², the inertial 6-axis chip is claimed to be the industry’s smallest combo sensor on a single die. This small size reduces both cost and power consumption and improves ASIC.
”The need for inertial solutions is omnipresent: our new licensing model offers industry players their only opportunity to reach an integration level of 3, 6, 7, 9 and up to10 axis with state of the art technologies and products,” said Pascal Langlois, Chief Executive Officer, Tronics. “We are ready to partner with both existing and new players to meet the challenges of cost and power savings, performance and integration.”
