Sensor fusion made easy with low-power sensor hub
Allowing for easy sensor fusion implementation, the SSC7102 turnkey sensor hub from Microchip has been developed in direct partnership with sensor manufacturers and sensor-fusion specialists. Supporting a large selection of sensors, the hub consumes ~4 mA while running complex sensor-fusion algorithms, resulting in longer battery life for Windows 8.1 tablets, laptops, ultrabooks and smart phones.
Due to their small size and cost, sensors can now be added to virtually anything. As sensors continue to develop and surround us, system requirements are moving from simple monitoring to providing complex information about our environment and activities. Data from multiple sensors, which sense motion via accelerometers, magnetometers and gyroscopes, as well as environmental factors such as light, temperature, humidity and pressure, needs to be incorporated or “fused” in the system. Data from multiple sensors need to be 'fused' or incorporated into the system. Microchip's sensor hub runs these complex sensor-fusion algorithms, while providing maximum flexibility in an easy-to-implement solution.

Available in a 6mm x 6mm body, BGA package, the SSC7102 sensor hub is available now and volume production is expected by the end of this quarter.
