HD CameraChip Sensor For Portable Devices And Smart TVs
OmniVision announce a cost-efficient and compact 720p high definition CameraChip sensor, designed specifically for secondary cameras in notebooks, tablets and smartphones, as well as the rapidly developing smart TV market. “TUsing OmniVision’s premier 1.75-micron OmniBSI+ pixel architecture, the OV9728 delivers best-in-class low-light sensitivity. When compared with the previous-generation OV9726, the new OV9728 benefits from a 60 percent improvement in full-well capacity, a 4db improvement in dynamic range, and a significantly enhanced signal-to-noise ratio that meets Microsoft’s recommended SNR10 standards. The 1/6.5-inch OV9728 captures 720p HD video at 30 frames per second or high quality cropped VGA video at 60 FPS.
The OV9728 features a one-lane high-speed MIPI interface and fits into a compact 6 x 6 x 3 mm module. It is currently available for sampling and is expected to enter volume production in the third quarter of 2013.
