High stability Infrared sensor IC enables fast, accurate temperature measurements in demanding environments
A common challenge for current high end thermometer guns is their sensitivity to fast temperature changes in their environment. A stabilization period of up to ½ hour in a new environment is often necessary to achieve accurate measurements. The new MLX90616ESF-HCA thermopile sensor with integrated electronic stabilization function uses proprietary Melexis technology to reduce the stabilization period to less than half a minute.
STMicroelectronics Introduces World’s Smallest 3-Axis Digital Gyroscope
STMicroelectronics has expanded its motion-sensing portfolio with the addition of the market’s smallest three-axis digital-output gyroscope. ST’s L3G3200D enables advanced motion sensing in ever-shrinking form factors of next-generation mobile phones, tablets and other smart consumer devices, by reducing the package size by almost half over current-generation sensors.
Aptifirst has introduced the ALC03 miniature in-line tension/compression load cell
The ALC03 miniature in-line tension/compression load cell, which was designed for a Sports Technology application although it has application in many fields where a robust sensor of small size is required.
VeriSens – a new generation of intuitive configuration
Lambda Photometrics are proud to release the latest generation of VeriSens vision sensors from Baumer, who sets new standards of operating simplicity and dependability. Three new ranges of VeriSens provide optimal solutions for various applications in automation systems.
LBA Low Pressure Sensors Offer Special Versions with Highest Resolution for Respiration Applications
Sensortechnics’ LBA series offers differential low pressure sensors based on thermal mass flow measurement of air through a micro-flow channel integrated within the silicon sensor chip. The sensors are ideal for differential pressure flow measurement where the pressure drop across a flow element is a measure of the volumetric flow rate. For high performance medical respiratory devices it is essential to detect very small flows around the zero f...
SMG06x Angular rate sensor for rollover applications
From our foundation of innovative and successful auto-motive micro-machined sensing products, the Bosch SMG06x angular rate sensor family is our improved second generation gyroscope for rollover applications. The SMG06x is a micro-machined gyroscope for the detection of x-axis (x) angular rate for in car safety applications, such as rollover control. Its design and quality standards make the SMG06x the right product for passenger safety s...
Microchip’s new silicon temperature sensor guarantees high accuracy and resolution across a wide temperature range combined with small packages
Microchip announces the MCP9808 silicon temperature sensor, which serves a broad range of applications by guaranteeing high accuracy of 0.5 degrees from -20 to +100 degrees Celsius, combined with high temperature resolution of 12 bits (0.0625 degrees Celsius/LSB). The MCP9808 comes in small MSOP and 2x3 mm DFN 8-pin packages, for space-constrained applications, and additional features include shutdown, an under/over-temperature monitor and a cri...
Continental's Sensor Identifies the Vehicle's Precise Position within its Lane
By fusing driving dynamics sensor information with GPS data, Continental, the international automotive supplier, will make it possible in future to determine the precise position of a vehicle within its lane. The new M2XPro (Motion information 2 X Provider) sensor uses an intelligent fusion algorithm to provide other control units with a vehicle's motion information together with a precise time base. The ability to determine the vehicle's positio...
Tiny Omron photomicrosensor delivers exceptional detection performance
Omron Electronics Components Business B.V. has launched what it believes is the smallest photomicrosensor on the market, a device that nevertheless offers exceptional sensing performance. Despite its ultra-compact size of just 3.2mm x 1.9mm x 1.1mm, the new Omron EE-SY1200 reflective photomicrosensor can reliably detect objects between 1mm and 4mm away. It is ideal for a whole range of demanding applications including paper pass and edge detectio...
Plessey releases new EPIC sensor for movement sensing applications
Plessey Semiconductors has announced that it has released the latest version of the Electric Potential Integrated Circuit (EPIC) sensor specifically tailored to detect movement. This version of the EPIC has been optimised for security, switching and gaming applications. By detecting changes in the electric field the EPIC sensor provides an output to a relay to act as a simple non-touch electric switch. The EPIC sensor can be used in both proximit...
