EV charging solutions hit the streets of Michigan
At this year's Electric & Hybrid Vehicle Technology Expo US in Novi, Michigan, taking place on 11th-13th September, HUBER+SUHNER will present its Electric Vehicle (EV) charging solutions to support the vast increase of EVs on the streets.
The RADOX High Power Charging (HPC) System - allows the power-throughput of a charging system to be multiplied, with charging time below 15 minutes (80% State of Charge), putting super-fast charging within reach, even when combined with the big battery packs of electric vehicles and trucks.
The major benefits of the HPC were recognised this year after it was selected by zero-emission pioneer, Electrify America, to play a key role in revolutionising ultra-fast, convenient EV charging systems across the United States.
The project will enable millions of Americans to discover the benefits of EV driving, with stations located in carefully selected EV charging stops and sites, as well as high speed depots that will feature charging speeds of up to 350kW. While the technology can deliver maximum power levels, it can also step down to lower power levels for vehicles equipped for lower powered DC fast charging.
The majority of Electrify America’s network of 2,800 ultra-fast charging systems will utilise the HPC to provide a charging offering. Delivery on the project started this year, with the HPC already being installed across Virginia, Massachusetts and Connecticut, with a new-build currently underway in Oregon.
“Eco-friendly vehicles are becoming more and more in demand not just for the lowered emissions but for the increased performance, and we have continuously proven ourselves as key players in this market,” said Max Göldi, LF Market Manager Industry at HUBER+SUHNER.
“The HPC is designed to be simple, easy to handle, robust, secure and with minimal time to charge. It is perfect to solve key challenges that face EV drivers when time is of the essence. We’re delighted to work on Electrify America to benefit thousands of current EV drivers and entice new ones.”
Along with the HPC, the HUBER+SUHNER High Voltage Distribution Unit (HVDU) and the 2nd generation RADOX Automotive Connection System (RACS) will be on show at the event, further proving the HUBER+SUHNER credentials as an EV powerhouse.
Extremely customisable, the HVDU assures power distribution between all high voltage components within every electric vehicle, for those who need the highest quality in demanding and harsh environments, land, water or air.
The RACS was developed by HUBER+SUHNER following years of experience in connectivity technology for high voltage systems, and when combined with the HVDU, enables users to benefit from considerably smaller space requirements together with a safer and more efficient connection between the HVDU and other high voltage units.
“More than 8,000 people attend EV Tech Expo US each year, representing leading and innovative companies in electric and hybrid vehicles, battery technology and critical power. We cannot wait to gather for three days of industry engagement at the show this year and highlight our one-stop-shop solutions for electric vehicle connectivity needs,” added Brian Jacobs, Sales Director, Low Frequency at HUBER+SUHNER.
