1200 V field stop trench IGBTs for solar inverters
Fairchild Semiconductor announce a new series of 1200 V field stop trench IGBTs which have been designed to meet the requirements of hard-switching industrial applications including solar inverters, uninterruptible power supplies, and welders. The FGH15T120SMD, FGH25T120SMD, and FGH40T120SMD IGBTs help power engineers achieve better efficiency and reliability in their designs.
Connecting electric vehicles to the power grid
Engineers at Fraunhofer ESK have specified and implemented the required communication interface as part of the EU-sponsored smart vehicle-to-grid interface (SMARTV2G) project. This project aims to create a system in which electric vehicles use and temporarily store energy. By temporarily storing the energy, it can be fed back into the grid as needed.
Battery charging controller for solar applications
Linear Technology have announced a new synchronous buck-boost battery charging controller for lead acid and Lithium batteries, the LT8490. Featuring automatic maximum power point tracking, temperature compensation, and many selectable constant-current constant-voltage charging profiles, the LT8490 is ideal for charging a variety of Lithium or lead acid chemistry types, including sealed lead acid, gel cells and flooded cells.
Strain sensor solution for the wind energy industry
Avago Technologies introduce an industrial-grade strain sensor solution which is based on Avago's patented optical phase interrogation technique. Enabling the readily available polymer optical fiber to be used as a high-precision strain sensor on par with current fiber Bragg grating based strain sensors, the sensing solution is unique and cost-effective.
Surface mount solar modules for PV energy harvesting
IXYS expands its range of high efficiency IXOLAR solarMD Solar modules with new variants designed for use in applications such as battery chargers, wireless sensors, green electricity generation and power backup for UPS. Designed using monocrystalline silicon for increased efficiency and spectral range, the new additions feature a maximum power output between 67mW and 540mW.
The smallest UL508 recognized high-voltage contactor
GIGAVAC has expanded their Advanced Switching Solutions portfolio with the industry's smallest UL508 recognized contactor for high current switching at 1000Vdc. Meeting and exceeding the requirements of IP67 and IP69 sealing, the RoHS-compliant HX22 was developed for use in solar combiner boxes and inverters.
