Portable charging lead is suitable for all European EVs
Boasting charging rates from 6A to 16A, the EVSE portable charging lead has been launched by EVconnectors. Featuring a full range of charging lead and wall plug options, the lead is suitable for all vehicles and use across Europe. Ensuring safe and efficient charging, the lead has a ‘thermal’ wall plug which reduces charge current under high load condition.
Li+ battery monitor used in Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid
Maxim Integrated Products has revealed that its lithium-ion (Li+) battery monitor is being used for the Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid, a sport utility vehicle designed for the North American market. Maxim’s Li+ battery monitor provides self-diagnostics and robust daisy-chained data communications that easily handles the high-voltage requirements of the automotive industry.
Devkit for high-performance solar power systems
Enabling engineers to design highly efficient and reliable grid-tied solar micro inverters, Texas Instruments announces the C2000 Solar Micro Inverter Development Kit. The kit implements a complete grid-tied solar micro inverter based around TI's C2000 Piccolo TMS320F28035 microcontroller.
A cloud link for energy harvesting wireless networks
EnOcean Link is a middleware for energy harvesting wireless networks. It transforms EnOcean telegrams into ready-for-use data which eases the integration of energy harvesting wireless solutions into a wide range of applications and networks, thus facilitating the development of deeply interconnected systems. Using EnOcean Link as a web service via the Internet moves the effort of processing to the cloud, enabling lightweight cost-efficient gatewa...
Transmit up to 100m with a drive current of just 6mA
Extending their portfolio of TOSLINK fibre optic modules, the TOxX1350-series from Toshiba supports signal transmission from DC or any data rates up to 10Mb/s. Transmission distances of 40-100m can be achieved with a drive current of only 6mA and it is possible to operate the transmitter with a drive current of only 1.5mA to achieve transmission distances of 0.2-50m.
Regulator converts harvested power as low as 10uW
An ultra-low-power boost regulator for photovoltaic and thermoelectric energy harvesting systems has been unveiled by Analog Devices. The ADP5090 boost regulator delivers efficient conversion of harvested power (as low as 10uW) with sub-uW operational losses that stores the maximum amount of energy for future operation.
EVs and HEVs to drive Li-ion battery business
According to a recent market research report from IDTechEx, the lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery business is growing rapidly to many tens of billions of dollars yearly, thanks to continuing investment in the industry. Their use is widening well beyond e-readers, tablets, laptops and mobile phones with vehicles being particularly important for the future; mainly hybrid electric and pure electric vehicles by land, water and air.
Converter launched for wind energy plants
The PCMDS150 350S24 UK DC/DC converter, based on MTM Power's exisiting PCMDS150 150W converter series, has been specifically designed for use in wind energy plants. The converter is directly supplied from the battery-supported direct current line voltage in wind energy plants. Thereby the wide input voltage range of 100-450VDC allows an optimal utilisation of the existing battery capacity.
Three-phase film capacitors for PFC and AC filtering
Three-phase medium power film capacitors, the FLB series has been introduced by AVX. Operating over a temperature range from -40 to +80°C, typical applications for the series include Power Factor Correction (PFC) and output AC filtering in power converters, UPS systems, solar and wind inverters and motor drives.
