Zener diodes for defense and aerospace applications

Microsemi introduce a new series of high-reliability 1 - 2.4 volt Zener diodes. Offering an improvement in typical lower leakage of up to 40 times and up to 4 times better voltage regulation versus standard Zener diodes, the SLZx.xA diodes are targeted at low-voltage regulation and transient protection applications in the defence, aerospace, industrial and medical markets.

The new high-reliability, ultra-sharp knee diode devices can be used for certain transient voltage protection applications requiring low impedance and low voltage. The new diodes ideal for high-speed and frequency electro static discharge applications and portable applications to ensure longer battery life, thanks to low-capacitance and low-leakage ratings.

Durga Peddireddy, director of marketing for Microsemi's High-Reliability Products group, commented: “Microsemi leveraged its extensive expertise in high-reliability products to deliver a new solution that fills the need for lower impedance, better voltage regulation and lower leakage Zener diodes. We have plans to broaden this category with different package and voltage options. Offered in a ruggedized, hermetically sealed, surface mount UB package, the SLZx.xA Zenner diodes are designed to withstand adverse operating conditions such as shock and vibration. Reliable operation in harsh conditions is further enhanced as the diodes are also screened to meet JANTXV equivalent specifications. Environmentally friendly and RoHS compliant versions are also available.
