XP Power has announced line-up additions to its ECL family of ultra compact low power AC/DC power supplies. The ECL-S series, comprising 15 and 25W models, provides a chassis mount screw terminal format option in addition to the chassis mount JST connector, PCB mount and encapsulated versions already available across the whole ECL range. Believed to the smallest units available in the market, the 15 W ECL15-S model measures just 84 x 34.50 x 26.4 mm (3.31 x 1.35 x 1.04 inches). The new series is ideal for low power applications that require the use of a chassis mounted screw terminal supply or where parts need to be sealed from the operating environment.
The ECL15-S and ECL25-S single output models provide the nominal output voltages of +3.3, +5, +9, +12, +15, +24 or +48 VDC. With these new additions, the ECL family of products provides a comprehensive range of output voltage, power outputs and mechanical format combinations. No additional heat sinking or forced airflow is required, making the supplies ideal for most operating environments. They operate at full power from -20 to +50 degrees C and derate linearly to 50% output at +70 degrees C. All models have a peak load capability that can provide 130% of rated output power for a maximum of 30 seconds. Designers need not specify a more expensive, higher wattage power supply just to accommodate short peak load conditions.

All ECL products feature a Class II input, meaning that no grounding is required. This suits portable equipment designs where a reliable ground source is not always available. Input to output isolation is rated at 3,000 VAC. External filtering components are not required since the power supplies already meet EN55022, level B for conducted and radiated EMC. All models carry EN, UL, CSA and CE safety approvals.
