UPS system provides ease of deployment in large data centres
A 400kVA UPS system, designed to meet the needs of 575-600V applications, has been released by Emerson Network Power. For data centres that need to quickly scale to meet spiking power demands, the Liebert NXL enables a faster, easier and more cost-effective deployment by using optimised internal transformers. This eliminates the need to install and wire separate external input and output transformers.
The unit bypass is 575-600V, simplifying the use of an external maintenance bypass and a separately sourced bypass. The system is engineered to enable the highest levels of application availability. Its design allows operation at 100% load under a ‘stack up’ of conditions that would require other systems to derate their output or compromise system availability. Simultaneous conditions such as clogged air filters, high ambient temperature, high altitude, fan failure and low or high line conditions have been mitigated to ensure full rating at 100% operating loads. Like other Liebert NXL UPS models, the 575-600V model is available in single module and multi-module systems (1+N) to achieve redundancy and maximum reliability.
The UPS system is also highly energy efficient. It offers higher operating efficiency compared to a transformerless UPS that requires external input and output transformers, while providing the added dependability and fault tolerance of a transformer based design. When operating in double conversion mode, the Liebert NXL delivers efficiency as high as 93.9%; when in Active Inverter Eco-Mode, it achieves efficiencies up to 97.6%.
For effective data centre monitoring and management, Liebert NXL UPS battery cabinets are available with factory-integrated Alber battery monitoring. This factory installed and tested system continuously monitors and diagnoses battery parameters. The reporting function keeps data centre personnel informed of battery health and allows battery replacement at the right time, not prematurely or after a cell failure. Additionally, superior operational control can be realised through the Emerson Network Power data centre infrastructure management system, the Trellis platform, or the Liebert SiteScan Web centralised monitoring and control system, each delivering improved overall control, visibility and infrastructure performance.
“Today’s dynamic data centres require equally dynamic infrastructure solutions that are designed for continuous availability without impairing data centres cost management,” said Peter Panfil, Global Vice President, AC Power, Emerson Network Power. “The Liebert NXL 400kVA, 575-600V UPS provides data centre professionals an optimised power solution that is quicker to install, highly efficient and cost-effective, while protecting their IT applications with the most reliable UPS system in the industry.”
