Torex Integrates Two High Current Ultra LDO Regulators In One Package
The new XCM406 Series multi-chip module (MCM) from Torex Semiconductor combines two XC6210 high current, high speed LDO (low dropout) regulators in an ultra small USP-12B01 (2.8mm x 2.3mm x 0.6mm) package. With high performance, reliability and very low power consumption, these highly integrated devices meet the needs of battery-driven applications such as mobile phones, Bluetooth equipment, portable gaming devices and other portable equipment.
The Manufactured using Torex’s CMOS process, the two LDO regulators feature a voltage reference, an error amplifier, a current limiter foldback circuit and a phase compensation circuit, plus a driver transistor. The foldback current limit circuit also operates as the output current limiter (800mA max) and the output pin protector.
The low ON resistance of the driver transistor allows batteries to be used to a minimal input to output voltage differential, and therefore for a much longer time before replacement is necessary in the end equipment.
Power consumption is just 35µA per channel typical. A chip enable (CE) function allows the output of each LDO to be turned off, putting the device into standby mode and reducing power consumption to a maximum of 0.1µA. Operating temperature range is -40 to +85°C.
