The countdown to PCIM Europe 2019 has begun...
This year's PCIM show in Europe is just around the corner: from 5th-7th May, numerous product innovations and a top quality lecture programme await attendees in Nuremberg, Germany. Within the scope of this year’s international exhibition for power electronics and its applications, more than 500 companies from 28 countries will be presenting a vast array of products from all fields of power electronics.
The organiser, Mesago Messe Frankfurt, has noted first-time exhibitors from countries such as Belgium, China, Germany, India, Italy, Japan Korea, Russia, Sweden, Taiwan and the United States.
Trade fair innovations for diverse applications
Product innovations to be presented at the PCIM Europe for the very first time include, for instance, the DCM direct liquid cooled power module technology platform by Danfoss Silicon Power.
It is especially suited to match the technical requirements of automotive traction inverters, can be effectively integrated into electric traction drives and covers power ratings above 200kW, making it applicable for various drivetrain architectures.
Meanwhile, the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology will be showcasing the AIT Smart Grid Converter, which is designed for today's Smart Grid and emerging Low Inertia Micro Grid applications and offers a broad range of connectivity options such as IEC61850, ModBus TCP and SunSpec.
Numerous further novelties can be found within the exhibitor directory on the event website, and are categorised as 'trade fair innovations'.
Expert lectures and poster presentations
PCIM Europe visitors may look forward to a diverse program at no fewer than three exhibition forums: The Industry forum is the place where trends and topics in the industry such as 'GaN and Industry 4.0 - A Small Change that is Revolutionising the Industry' (GaN Systems) and 'New Thinking Leads to Smaller Inductors and High Efficiency at High Frequency' (Coilcraft Europe) will be presented and discussed.
The EMobility Forum in collaboration with the 'Elektronik automotive' trade magazine shines a light on everything regarding power electronics for electromobility. Topics include 'Assembly Technologies of Power Modules - Challenges and Solutions' (Semikron) and 'Power Semiconductor Solutions for Vehicle Electrification Beyond the Powertrain' (Infineon). The Exhibitor Forum, finally, focuses on product presentations by exhibiting companies.
For those wishing to dive deeper into current research and development topics, the Poster Sessions of the parallel Conference are well worth visiting. These presentations will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon in the foyer outside of hall 9. They are accessible to exhibition visitors without charge and they offer a great opportunity to discuss the latest research findings with the experts personally.
