TDK announced the launch of the RGB series, a robust range of 400 to 750W non-isolated DC-DC converters from TDK-Lambda.

These buck step-down converters, designed for harsh environments, operate from input voltages of 9 to 18V, 18 to 32V, or 18 to 60V, and provide adjustable output voltages from 0.8 to 8V or 3.3 to 24V with output currents of up to 60A, depending on the power level.

The RGB series is intended for applications in demanding conditions such as medical equipment, automated guided vehicles (AGV), industrial mobile robots (IMR), drones, commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products, industrial settings, test and measurement instruments, and battery-powered devices.

These converters boast efficiencies of up to 98.5%, enabling them to deliver substantial power in challenging thermal conditions, with case temperatures ranging from -40°C to +115°C, thereby extending battery life. Encapsulated to withstand shock and vibration in compliance with MIL-STD-810G, they feature a 1/16th brick pinout and compact dimensions of 38.1 x 49.5 x 13.0mm (WxLxH). The five-sided aluminium case minimises radiated EMI and allows for conduction cooling to a cold-plate, facilitating fanless operation.

Key features of the basic models include an output voltage adjustment pin, negative logic remote on-off, remote sense, input under-voltage, over-current, and thermal protection. Additionally, an optional adjustable current limit is available to mitigate stress on the input source, converter, and load during overload conditions.

All models are certified with CE and UKCA marks for Low Voltage and RoHS Directives, and adhere to IEC/UL/CSA/EN 62368-1 safety standards. Evaluation boards are available for straightforward testing.
