Simplify wide VIN synchronous power supply design
Suitable for automotive, industrial and communications applications, seven SIMPLE SWITCHER regulators have been announced by Texas Instruments. The LM43600, LM43601, LM43602, LM43603, LM46000, LM46001 and LM46002 DC/DC converters help create energy-efficient, EMI compliant products and simplify wide VIN synchronous power supply design.
Supporting input voltages of 3.5-36V, the LM43600, LM43601, LM43602 and LM43603 synchronous regulators provide output currents of up to 0.5, 1, 2 and 3A, respectively. The LM46000, LM46001 and LM46002 provide output currents up to 0.5, 1 and 2A, respectively, from input voltages of 3.5-60V. Ultra-low operating quiescent current of 27μA minimises power consumption at light load and extend battery life.
Integrated high- and low-side MOSFETs, compensation and control features reduce external parts count by up to seven components and improves efficiency, EMI and solution size. The programmable switching frequency of up to 2.2MHz also enables smaller external components.
The converters are supplied in 16-pin 5x6.4mm HTSSOP which is thermally enhanced and scalable for reuse, as well as being pin- and footprint-compatible across the product family. The devices feature an EMI-optimised pin placement to simplify PCB layout for CISPR 22 class B EMC compliance.
TI’s WEBENCH online design tool supports the SIMPLE SWITCHER regulators. The tool aids designers in generating, optimising and simulating a wide VIN design and then exporting that design to a CAD program.
Available now in volume quantities, the LM43600, LM43601, LM43602 and LM43603 regulators are priced at $1.50, $1.60, $1.75 and $1.85, respectively, in 1,000 unit quantities. The LM46000, LM46001 and LM46002 regulators are priced at $1.65, $1.75 and $1.85, respectively.
