Processing, gate drivers & sensors create power conversion platform
At PCIM Europe 2016, Analog Devices demonstrates the integration of processing, gate driving and sensing components in a power conversion platform for next-gen solar power, energy storage and EV infrastructure applications.
It enables faster-switching architectures and accommodates increasing safety regulations, says the company. The iCoupler digital isolation technology in the ADuM413x series of isolated gate drivers, is coupled with mixed-signal processor design (ADSP-CM41x), to simplify system design for power inverter manufacturers, says the company, while also improving system safety and reliability, and contributing to a reduction in cost of renewable energy.
The ADSP-CM41x processor series design integrates dual-core safety redundancy into a single chip. To date, it is the only processor of its kind to be awarded a Certificate of Safety Attestation, VDE-AR-N4105, from TUV-SUD.
An AD740x sigma-delta-based ADC is also included in the platform, replacing larger, more expensive sensor modules. This not only reduces system cost, claims the company, but also improves isolated current measurement.
An evaluation kit, the ADZS-CM419F-EZLITE is available now for $410.00.
