Power supply meets IEC 4th edition EMC
SL Power Electronics announces its 425W, single output MU425 Series AC/DC power supply. This latest offering addresses the complexity and unique power needs of healthcare systems such as surgical equipment, home healthcare therapeutic devices and imaging equipment as well as other critical medical applications that require clean, reliable power for the highest level of performance.
Compact and highly efficient – up to 90% – the MU425S models are approved to CSA/EN/IEC/UL60601-1, 3rd Edition 2 means of patient protection (MOPP) isolation. In addition, for home healthcare devices and equipment, the new power supplies meet EN61000-4-2, EN61000-4-3 and EN61000-4-6.
The MU425S models measure only 3x6.2x1.62", for compact 1U high (1.75 inch) applications. The MU425S provides 300W of convection cooling or 425W with moving air. Designed with the highest level of Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) protection, these new models offer a wide -10 to 70°C operating temperature range and will start up at a low -40°C, providing optimum thermal performance and eliminating the need for a costly heating element. Compliant to heavy industrial levels of the IEC61000-4 standards for EMC immunity and Class B Conducted EMI with 6db margin, the MU425S models have over 350,000 hours Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) and use long life (>7 years) electrolytic capacitors in their design.
“Our MU425S AC/DC power supply family is the perfect solution for design engineers needing maximum power performance for critical medical applications,” said Cochise Mapa, director, global product management. “SL Power is a global leader in medical power, and our engineers have developed the MU425S to meet the exacting requirements of today’s medical devices – ensuring the highest level of patient protection, efficiency and performance in a small form-factor.”
There are four models in the family, featuring a universal input of 90 to 264VAC and outputs of 12, 18, 24 and 48V input and output monitoring alarms. In addition, isolated 12V/1A fan output and 5V/2A standby voltage are standard offerings of the new family. All models are CE marked to low voltage directive and approved to ITE standards of IEC/UL/EN60950 and CSA C22.2, 2nd edition.
