POL converter requires only five external components
Now available from Nu Horizons Electronics, Astec/Artesyn’s SMT12F series is a new range of ultra-compact non-isolated point-of-load converters for space-critical applications. Devices in the new SMT12F Typhoon family of surface-mount converters have a footprint of just 13.5 by 16mm and require only five 22 microFarad ceramic output capacitors to realise a complete point-of-load (POL) solution.
TotaThe series has an input voltage range of 2.97 to 5.5VDC and can output voltages between 0.9 and 3.3VDC, with a 12A current rating. Transient response capabilities extend up to 300A/microSecond.
The SMT12F is primarily intended for use on densely packed, high functionality boards and for powering advanced silicon including network and communication processors, DSPs, FPGAs and ASICs.
