Open frame power supplies with safety approvals
Designer and manufacturer of power conversion solutions, SL Power, announced new additions to the GB series of open frame or PCB mount AC-DC power supply families. The new GB10, GB20, GB30, and GB40 families will be certified to medical and industrial safety approvals. They will also meet heavy industrial safety levels of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) immunity standards.
The series consists of four families, with ten, 20, 30 or 40W power ratings and each family includes models with output voltages ranging from five to 48V. The power supplies can accept a universal input range from 90 to 264Vac over the wide temperature range of minus 20 to plus 70°C, with derating above 40°C.
The high performance of SL Power’s new GB series power supplies, with EMI/EMC characteristics and long product life, makes it easier for medical and industrial original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to integrate these power conversion units into their products.
These units are approved to medical and industrial safety standards: EN/IEC/UL60601-1, 3rd edition (with 2xMOPP isolation), and EN/IEC/UL62368-1. In addition, they are designed to meet the EMC requirements per UL/EN/IEC60601-1-2, 4th edition (Heavy Industrial levels of EN61000-4-x standards).
Paul Kingsepp, Global Product Line Manager, SL Power, said: “With a typical efficiency of greater than 88 per cent and less than 0.1 watts no load input power, the GB series balances the key performance criteria of Thermal management, Reliability, EMI/EMC margin, Power density and Power efficiency.
“SL Power uses the acronym TREPP in its approach to evaluating these parameters and focuses on creating a power solution that is easy for customers to integrate into their applications by balancing all five. We regularly compare our power supply designs against competing units and publish the data to show how we compare.
“It’s all part of our open and honest approach to partnering with companies that make medical products that save and sustain lives, and test and measurement applications that ensure precision.”
Long life electrolytic capacitors (e-caps rated over at least eight years, with some rated over ten years) and a high MTBF (one million hours) underline the reliability of these new power supplies while a three-year warranty gives customers confidence in their choice of power conversion partner.
