Nisshinbo Micro Devices has unveiled the ND1130, a 2-channel H-bridge driver IC with an integrated boost converter, specifically designed to address the evolving needs of compact electronic systems.

Utilising a highly efficient Bi-CMOS process, it empowers systems with its capability to drive piezo actuators for camera modules and haptic devices.

The ND1130 is equipped with a boost converter capable of delivering up to 40 V with a high switching frequency range of 380 kHz to 1 MHz, powered from a single-cell Li-ion battery or 5 V power supply. With a switching current of 1.5 A and PWM control, it ensures efficient energy conversion. The H-bridge driver supports operating voltages from 7 V to 35 V and I/O signal frequencies up to 300 kHz, ensuring compatibility with demanding applications. It facilitates precise control of piezo actuators across two channels, with robust safeguards such as overcurrent protection, thermal shutdown, under-voltage lockout, and a fault indicator output. Enhancing reliability and ensure optimal operation even under harsh conditions.

The ND1130 is ideal for modern, space-constrained designs like camera modules with small piezo actuators for controlling autofocus (AF), optical image stabilisation (OIS), and zoom capabilities, as well as miniature projectors, haptic feedback systems.

The ND1130 minimises PCB space usage and is available in an ultra-compact WLCSP-30-ZA1 package measuring just 2.32 × 2.37 mm typ., with a maximum thickness of 0.6 mm. For rapid prototyping and development, evaluation boards featuring the device are available, ensuring seamless integration into your projects. A comprehensive circuit diagram and additional information simplify the design process, enabling faster time-to-market.
