Murata Power Solutions provides front-end power for zero emission race team
Murata Power Solutions’ D1U-W AC/DC front-end power supply has been chosen by the Imperial Racing Green Team for use in the Hydrogen fuel cell systems for its next-generation Zero emission vehicles. The team is a project of London’s Imperial College that draws on expertise from across the engineering faculty to develop and build vehicles to compete in races across the globe. Murata Power Solutions has supplied three of its 48V, 2000W power supplies. The Imperial Racing Green Team is currently competing in the Worlds’ first Hydrogen fuel cell race series called Formula Zero. Other competitions include Formula Student and The Zero Race.
PrioThe D1U-W-2000-48-HB2C Powershelf was chosen for its integrated, compact, high efficiency, high power density design and because its rack mounted configuration could be easily accommodated within the test rig that the team also uses as a display system.
Commenting on the selection of Murata’s D1U-W-2000-48-HB2C, Imperial Racing Green Team’s Mark Cordner said: “Murata Power Solutions’ D1U power supply allows us to break free from the confines of our fuel cell laboratory and demonstrate our novel technologies across Europe.” He continued: “The unit’s class-leading efficiency fits well with Imperial Racing Green Team’s philosophy of seeking responsible technologies for today’s environmental challenges.”
