Murata Power Solutions strengthens its range of OkamiTM PoL 3 and 6 Amp DC/DC converters
Murata Power Solutions has added three new series to its Okami(TM) OKL range of non-isolated point-of-load (PoL) DC/DC converters that feature the innovative inspectable Land Grid Array (iLGA) package. The OKL series offers a high power density, high power conversion efficiency (up to 95.3%) solution for space constrained embedded applications and is a cost-effective alternative to discrete design approaches.
DesiThe OKL-T/6-W12 series has a wide input voltage range of 4.5 to 14VDC making it useful in nominal 12VDC input applications such as servers and storage. These devices have an output current of 6A and efficiency levels of up to 93% with a programmable output of between 0.6 and 5.5VDC.
All of the new converters are available with optional sequence/tracking feature and either negative or positive on/off logic.
The iLGA package, utilised on the OKL series, features small plated cutouts that allow easy probing and visual inspection of all signal pads which is not possible with conventional LGA configurations. The iLGA package exhibits excellent heat transfer characteristics with low thermal impedance path between the module and the application board.
All OKL modules are capable of driving high ceramic capacitive loads, up to 300µF for 6Amp in W5 and W12 series. 3Amp model supports 200uF output capacitance. Other design features include under voltage lockout (UVLO), output short-circuit protection plus over-current and over temperature protection.
OKL series PoL DC/DC converters use an industry accepted standard pad layout for interconnects. The new models have a footprint of just 12.2mm (0.48in) x 12.2mm (0.48in.). Overall height is 6.2mm (0.24in.) for the OKL-T/3-W5 series, and 7.2mm (0.283in.) for the OKL-T/6-W5 and the OKL-T/6-W12 series.
The new modules are RoHS-compliant and designed to meet UL/EN/IEC 60950-1 safety approvals and FCC emissions certifications. Operating temperature range is -40ºC to +85ºC.
