Medically certified power supplies offer Class I or II inputs
A series of medically certified 300W external power supplies has been announced by TDK Corporation. Certified to the latest IEC 60601-1 & 60601-1-2 medical standards, products in the DTM300 series have 4,000VAC isolation from input to output and are offered with either a Class I or Class II input.
The series is intended to power a range of hospital, dental and healthcare products for monitoring, imaging and diagnostic applications. ITE safety certifications are also included for industrial, test and measurement equipment. The series is available with six commonly used output voltages; 12, 19, 24, 28, 48 and 54VDC and can operate from a 90-264VAC input via a standard IEC 60320-C14 (3-prong) or 60320-C18 (2-prong) connector. The output cable is terminated with a 10-pin Molex Mini-Fit connector, with other connector types available on request.
All models have an average efficiency level of >88% and an off-load power consumption of less than <0.5W, enabling the series to fully meet the DOE Efficiency Level VI requirements. The adapter enclosure is vent-free (no cooling fan) and measures 222mm in length, 112mm in width and 45mm in height.
The DTM300 has been certified to IEC/ES/CSA/EN 60601-1, IEC/UL/CSA/EN 60950-1 and carries the CE mark for the Low Voltage, EMC and RoHS2 Directives. TDK-Lambda’s medical safety compliance extends to providing 2x MoPPs (Means of Patient Protection) input to output. Touch current is <100µA and Class I models are suitable for BF rated equipment. All models comply with EN 55011-B, EN 55022-B, EN 55024-B, FCC-B and EN 60601-1-2 Ed4:2014 EMC standards.
